Ultrasonic Testing – Back to Basics

Brian K. Wood
Rocky Mountain Steel Mills

Ultrasonic testing is a highly versatile method of nondestructive testing widely used in many facets of industry. The effectiveness of an ultrasonic examination is highly dependent upon the skills, practices and integrity of the technician along with the procedures implemented by the controlling authority. This presentation will revisit the basic fundamentals of ultrasonic testing, explore the many variables involved and reiterate their significance in relation to successfully producing accurate and reliable test results.

About the Speaker

His career in NDT has focused mainly on ultrasonic testing, predominantly as applied to the inspection of oil country tubular goods and railway products.
