Ultrasonics (UT) - Back to Basics

[5:30 - 6:00 pm Board Meeting (open to all members)]
      6:00 - 6:45 pm - Social
      6:45 pm - Dinner
      7:30 - 8:45 pm - Speaker

Speaker: Dr. Doron kishoni
Business Solutions - USA, LLC

Bulk waves, P waves, S Waves, SH Waves, SV Waves, Longitudinal, Transverse, Rayleigh, Surface Waves -- are they all the same? Different? And what about other waves? Why are there different ones? Why do we have them at all? How do Ultrasonics help us find discontinuities (or "defects," for you critics)?

In this presentation we'll try to answer these questions in simple terms. Not too many equations. You'll have a chance to learn how ultrasonic (UT) waves are generated, how they behave, how they are reflected and multiply-reflected. Additional topics include: movement from one media to another, mode conversion, and change in propagation speed. We'll even mention "inverse problems"...

Please join us and have the opportunity to participate and ask questions.
