3:30 PM - 5:30 PM

Meeting and tour of the laboratories
of the United States Air Force Academy

hosted by
Denise M. Bruce, Lt Col, USAF
Assistant Professor,
Engineering Mechanics
Deputy for Operations

Introduction to nondestructive testing (NDT)
"NDT Essential to keep them flying"

Nondestructive Testing is essential to keeping aircraft flying in both the civil and military sectors. This is an opportunity to introduce or renew information on some methods and aspects of nondestructive testing to students and faculty at the Academy; to enhance awareness of nondestructive testing technology as applied in Colorado; and to introduce the Colorado Section of the American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) to the program and laboratories at the Academy.

We will start with a presentation by Ward Rummel on Nondestructive Testing and how it is used in civil applications and in assuring structural integrity of aircraft.

We will then join students and staff for a short tour of the laboratory facilities at the Academy and will adjourn at approximately 5:30 PM

The United States Air Force Academy and the Colorado Section of the American Society for Nondestructive Testing are neighbors and should be aware of the people, facilities and capabilities that share our joint interests. The Colorado Section of ASNT extends an invitation to both faculty and students to join our local section meetings and to participate in the national conferences of ASNT.

Visitors to the Air Force Academy may enter through either the North Gate, which can be accessed from Exit 156B on Interstate 25, 14 miles north of downtown Colorado Springs, or from the South Gate, which can be accessed from Exit 150 on Interstate 25. For more information, call the Visitor's Center at 719-333-2025 or e-mail
