Hot Tapping of a +700 psi natural gas pipeline to API 1104, Appendix B. (API 2201, Procedures for Welding or Hot Tapping on Equipment in Service). This presentation will review how API 1104 and Appendix B allows for the successful addition of a branch connection to a natural gas pipeline without removing the pipeline from service. Applied metallurgy, non destructive testing, required PQR tests, and lessons learned will be presented.

About the Speaker:

Mark Bell, PE, is a graduate from Cal Poly in Metallurgical Engineering and CWI with endorsements in D1.1, D1.5 and API 1104. His consulting business is in failure analysis, welding, and corrosion. Mark's metallurgical consulting has brought him to work at the Denver Mint.
